EVENT
USCG Running Club Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse is a team relay event. Teams of 3 runners make their way around Seattle from Alki to Commodore Park in Magnolia. L2L is a combination of teamwork, physical fitness, and celebration of CG History.
COURSE (13.98Mi)
RUNNER 1 (5.55Mi): The course starts in West Seattles Alki neighborhood near the Alki Lighthouse, just up the road at the Constellation Park (Part of Charles Richey Sr. Viewpoint at the corner of 63rd Ave SW and Beach Dr SW) Runners will travel along the water on the urban trail networks ‘Alki Trail’. It is easy going until a series of street crossings and bridges brings the runners to their final stretch leading to the Spokane Street bridge exchange.
RUNNER 2 (5.2Mi): The second runner takes the baton and continues on the Alki Trail until they turn onto East Marginal Way and continue straight onto Alaskan Way S. They continue on the left side of the road sidewalk past the Coast Guard, Ferry Terminal, Sculpture park and finish on the Elliot Bay Trail (Terminal 91 Bike Path) just before the Magnolia Bridge.
RUNNER 3 (3.23 Mi): The third runner takes over and heads on the bike trail by the bus depot and BNSF train yard, emerging onto the slight incline of 20th Ave. 20th Ave turns into Gilman and just before it turns into W Government Way the runners head down Fort Street to run along the Lake Union Channel. The third runner finishes just past the Hiram M Chittenden Locks in beautiful Commodore Park after passing under train bridge.

LIGHTHOUSE LEG: (2.14 Mi) ~ On Your Own: The race officially ends at Commodore Park because no organized sporting events are allowed in Discovery Park, the home of the West Point Lighthouse. Teams wishing to continue on their own for pride and to truly complete a Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse run can continue by turning left at the end of the Commodore Ave and climbing into Discovery Park. Runners continue to climb while they run along Texas way until connecting with Utah Ave. Reaching Utah Ave signals the final descent to the West Point Lighthouse. The entrance to the grounds and path to the bell is on the right just before the paved path turns to unpaved. The running club will mark the way in a different color to help any motivated teams reach that personal goal.

POST RACE CELEBRATION
Teams are invited to attend a Post Race Celebration around Mile 12 on the course. Faster teams can cheer on finishers as they pass by the sunny patio, or enjoy a game of ping pong, lunch and a beverage. It’s not truly a team event without the story sharing after it’s over – like how great it was when the Spokane St Bridge opened right before you crossed it – or the cruise ship was unloading as you tried to go by. This fun run has a myriad of obstacles that will only truly be realized by being part of the action.
