COMMUNITY:  The Bay Area Chapter draws from a limited number of possible constituents compared to other local clubs, but we still recognize the requirement to be invovled in the community in a positive way.  To that end we have established relationships with key local organizations through which we can be more affective than our normaly small organization would be able to.

Partner Club - The Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders (LMJS) are the oldest running club in the East Bay and their mission and vision complements the US Coast Guard RC, filling in the shortfalls that our membership numbers and transient nature of members causes.  Through partnering with LMJS the USCG-RC Bay Area Chapter is able to reach further and deeper into the running community.  Currently, many members of the USCG-RC G3 Chapter are also members of LMJS, even serving as staff or previously as board members.

Community Outreach: Coaching tomorrows runners – USCGRC G3 Chapter has an informal relationship with the city of Piedmont Recreation Department.  The Rec Dept administers Cross Country and Track programs for children of middle school age. Currently four local USCG members coach for the Middle School Age Cross Country and Track programs, a tradition that has been maintained for the last three years and we hope to continue into the future.
