Two Coast Guard runners to compete in Armed Forces Marathon Championship

Two Coast Guard runners, LT Ken Burgess and LT Laura Springer have been selected to compete in the Armed Forces Marathon Championship on Oct 31st at the Marine Corps Marathon.  Laura and Ken will be running with the Navy marathon team.   Coast Guard members are eligible to apply and compete in the Armed Forces Sports Program as a member of Navy Sports teams with the exception of Rugby.  It is the hope of the club leadership to eventually change this, however those who are able to participate are grateful to despite having to compete under the colors of the Navy.  For more information on participating in the Armed Forces Sports Program, go the the CG MWR page here.


If you are going to be at the Marine Corps Marathon later this month, be sure to look for Ken and Laura and cheer them on!  The Coast Guard Running Club wishes them  and any other Coasties running the MCM the best of luck!
