Newton Running Shoes offers military discount!

From the site:  Newton Running shoes are the only running shoe company whose entire line of products are built exclusively to allow a natural running gait. Unlike any other running shoes on the market, all Newton Running shoes are built on a level platform, one that mirrors the geometry of your foot. Regular running shoes have a moderate to high heel lift. In addition, Newton Running Shoes incorporate Action/Reaction Technology™ that provides up to 60% more cushioning and 40% more energy return than leading brands.  Newton sponsored one of the Armed Forces Marathon Teams.  Click on the logo above or the link below for more information.

We haven’t talked to many people who have tried these, but there seems to be a lot of interest.  If you try it out, feel free to pass your experience to other CG runners through the forum!

Thanks for our health

Thanks for the health of our members, the health of the Coast Guard and our ability to participate in the sport of running.  As we near the end of the fall marathon season, many a Coastie have finished their quests for the 26.2 mile finish or PR.  It’s always a challenge when the time changes to continue striving through the dark ages of winter.  We encourage you to find something fun to keep you going – like a Turkey Trot, or small relay.  The athletes who can continue their training, stay healthy and go into the spring with a spring marathon and goal.  Soon we will need to publish our first club newsletter.  If you have some extra running energy you don’t know where to focus, consider writing something, anything, for the newsletter and we’ll make sure it’s edited and goes out to the whole club!  Send to admin@runuscg.org.
